I am the author of two books about my adventures in Africa, including cycling solo across the continent for 18 months, 14,500 kilometres, through 17 countries between 1992 and 1994 (before mobile phones and sealed roads!) and another about the perilous, ten year rollercoaster ride being a social entrepreneur in Lagos, Nigeria.

Since January 2022, I have been on an unexpected new journey - being principal carer and care/life manager in Perth, Australia to my now 98 year old and wheelchair-bound mother Gwen. Challenging!

My life seemed on hold until I responded to my mother's continuing passion for travel and I decided to facilitate our local and long haul travel adventures together. We have done multi-day car trips in Western Australia, domestic and international air travel, including two 7 week trips to the UK and a mini-break to Singapore. We are planning further faraway voyages in 2025 (when she will be 99).

I founded "Gwen on the Go" to share our stories and lessons, and to inspire other late age retirees and their carer relatives, to travel - it's never too late!
